Europa Lecture 2008
Held at the spanking-new University of Auckland Business School, NZ's Foreign Minister Winston Peters delivered a robust 2008 Europa Lecture on the healthy and ever-broadening EU-NZ bilateral relationship.
Following in the footsteps of previous notable Europa lecturers such as PM Helen Clark and Commissioner Benita Ferrero-Waldner, the Rt. Hon. Winston Peters said that Europe and NZ are so close that "It has been said by Europeans that New Zealand fulfils all the requirements for EU membership apart from our geographical location.By making the most of New Zealand's considerable assets we can demonstrate our value to Europe as partners in today's world, and in return reap the benefits of association with Europe, not only as an economic superpower but as a society with global reach that exemplifies many of our own aspirations".
The event was organized by the European Union Centres Network in New Zealand with the NZ-Europe Business Council and the University of Auckland.
