Within the new Lifelong Learning Programme, the first key activity of the Jean Monnet Programme brings together the two instruments formerly known as the Jean Monnet Action and the Support for Study and Research Centres. The actions supported under this key activity aim to stimulate excellence in teaching, research, reflection and debate in European integration studies in higher education institutions within and outside the Community. The Jean Monnet Programme is open to universities throughout the world in order to give greater visibility, at both international and national levels, to scientific resources and academic activities in the field of European integration and European Union developments. Universities in Australia and New Zealand have been very successful in applications for funds under the Jean Monnet Scheme. Currently there is a Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence and a Jean Monnet Chair ad personam in both Australia and New Zealand as well as several modules, research grants and projects, including a joint one between Australia and New Zealand. Jean Monnet Mobility Grants have also been granted to Australian and New Zealand Students. The call for proposals 2007 is available at the following Internet address: http://eacea.ec.europa.eu/static/en/llp/ajm/index_en.htm The selection process for the Jean Monnet Programme is managed by the Education, Audiovisual & Culture Executive Agency. The Agency was set up by the European Commission following Decision 2005/56/EC of 14 January 2005 and it is responsible for the management of certain parts of the Community's programmes in the fields of education, culture and audiovisual. The deadline for the submission of applications is 15 March 2007 (postmark). ____________________________________________ Luciano di Fonzo Contact in Canberra : this page updated October 17, 2007 |
