This annual prize consists of a cheque for $300, awarded to a student for outstanding performance in 300-level study, in one or more of the languages of the European Union.

Prize recipients are determined at the end of the academic year, and the prize-giving ceremony is held in late March or early April of the following year.

CONDITIONS OF PRIZE

  1. The prize shall be known as "THE EUROPEAN UNION PRIZE"

  2. The Prize shall be to the value of $300.00 or such other amount as may from time to time be determined and may be awarded annually, but shall not be awarded in any year in which no candidate is considered to be of sufficient merit.

  3. The Prize shall be open to all candidates proceeding to an award under the Bachelor Degree Rules (other than candidates for an honours degree).

  4. The Prize shall be awarded for outstanding performance in 300-level units totalling at least 12 credit points in one or more of the languages of the European Union offered by the Department of European Languages: French, German, Italian and Modern Greek.

  5. The Prize shall be made on the recommendation of the Head of Division of Humanities.

  6. The Prize shall consist of books or other items or such other form that may be substituted therefore together with a suitably inscribed certificate.
